Opteon™ 1150 Foam Blowing Agent

Energy Efficient, Low-GWP Blowing Agent to Enhance Foam Applications

Opteon™ 1150 foam blowing agent is made with hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) technology offering a low-Global Warming Potential (GWP), zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) alternative to hydroflurocarbons (HFC).  It has low toxicity and is nonflammable with an increased formulation shelf life compared to other HFO and HCFO blowing agents. Opteon™ 1150 is VOC exempt in United States (per US EPA).

Opteon™ 1150 Properties
Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) 0
Global Warming Potential (GWP) 100 yr ITH 7.0 (AR5)
Atmospheric Lifetime (NOAA) 67 days
Nonflammable (ASTM E681 at 25 °C [77 °F] and 60 °C [140 °F] Yes
Boiling Point (°C [°F]) 7.5 (45.5)
Vapor Thermal Conductivity (mW/mK at 25 °C [77 °F]) 11.5
Maximum Incremental Reactivity (g O3/g) 0.01

Opteon™ 1150 has an optimal boiling point between gaseous blowing agents (GBAs) like HFC-134a and HFC-1234ze-E, and liquid blowing agents (LBAs) like Opteon™ 1100 and HFC-245fa giving the formulator more precise control of froth and expansion rates.

This unique Boiling Point of 7.5°C (45.5°F) enables frothing at lower temperatures, expanding the application window, while improving density and flow in rigid foam applications.
